As I was reading in 1 Kings 13 tonight I came across an interesting prophecy. The prophet cried out against the altar. The prophet told the altar that a man called Josiah would be born from the Davidic dynasty and he would sacrifice all the priests of the high places on the altar. Later in 2 Kings 23 this prophecy was fulfilled through King Josiah. Could it be that this was just a partial fulfillment of that prophecy and the final fulfillment would be carried out in Christ? Is Josiah in this passage a type of Jesus? If you look through the lense of the cross, you can't help but see the final fulfillment of this prophecy through the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. I believe that Jesus like Josiah restored the Temple, but this time for good. Jesus told his disciples that the temple constructed in Jerusalem would be destroyed completely, but in 3 days it would be rebuilt. Praise the Lord it came to pass when Christ was resurrected on the third day.
I am still studying this passage so any input would be appreciated.
